Welcome from the TAALK community of survivors!

Healing can be a long road and we want you to know you're not alone. As a matter of fact, experts estimate there are over 42 million survivors of child sexual abuse in America with similar statistics in other countries around the world. Many of them, probably most of them, have never broken the silence.

There are survivors in your community, probably on your street, maybe even in your home. But you'll never know who they are until you give yourself permission to talk about it. Breaking the silence will empower you to heal and inspire others to do the same.

We all need someone to support us through our healing journey, wherever we may be along the path. We all need to talk to someone who truly understands; someone who has personally experienced the fear, shame, anger and betrayal of child sexual abuse; someone who has walked across the bridge before us. We're here for you. You can be there for us. We're all in this together!

If you're early in your healing process, let others support you. If you're already well down the path of healing, please share your strength and healing success with others.

If you're a survivor, we encourage you to be intentional and proactive about your healing. Use the links below to get connected to a support group near you.

The song "Reflections" by Christina Aguilera has powerful lyrics that represent the life of many survivors women and men alike. Our hope at TAALK is that your healing journey will eventually allow your reflection to show who you really are inside. The lyrics are below. Enjoy and be inspired to heal!

"Reflection"

Look at me
You may think you see
Who I really am
But you'll never know me
Every day
It's as if I play a part
Now I see
If I wear a mask
I can fool the world
But I cannot fool my heart

Who is that girl I see
Staring straight back at me?
When will my reflection show
Who I am inside?

I am now
In a world where I
Have to hide my heart
And what I believe in
But somehow
I will show the world
What's inside my heart
And be loved for who I am

Who is that girl I see
Staring straight back at me?
Why is my reflection
Someone I don't know?
Must I pretend that I'm
Someone else for all time?
When will my reflection show
Who I am inside?

There's a heart that must be
Free to fly
That burns with a need to know
The reason why

Why must we all conceal
What we think, how we feel?
Must there be a secret me
I'm forced to hide?
I won't pretend that I'm
Someone else for all time
When will my reflection show
Who I am inside?
When will my reflection show
Who I am inside?
